Sterling
Edwards has been a full time professional artist since 2000. He is
internationally renowned for his watercolor paintings that range from
traditional to abstract and is the author of the book, Creating
Luminous
Watercolor Landscapes, a Four Step Process, published by F+W
Publishing. He is also the designer of a
signature set of watercolor brushes and a signature watercolor palette
that are
marketed internationally. His award winning paintings are in private
collections worldwide and he is represented by several galleries in the
U.S. and Canada. In 2008 Sterling was awarded a signature membership
in the prestigious Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour and in
2010 he
was awarded a signature membership in the esteemed Transparent
Watercolor Society
of America. Though he was originally trained as an oil painter, he
specializes
in water based media, specifically watercolors and acrylics.
Having the
flexibility to work in several mediums and styles has helped Sterling
mature as
an artist. Combining his knowledge of color and design, he has spent
years
making the transition from a representative artist to an abstract
artist. Most
of Sterling’s
abstract paintings are personal interpretations of things he has seen
or places
he has ventured. As an abstract expressionist, he relies on expressive
brushwork to convey a sense of energy in his paintings. When combined
with
multiple layers of pigment and rich value contrasts a thought provoking
painting
emerges that is a unique interpretation by Sterling.
